Experiments with buck converters
PMLK BUCK board is an experimental power supply board based on two
integrated step-down switching regulators, using the Hysteretic PFET Buck controller LM3475 and the step-down DC-DC converter with Eco-mode TPS54160. The top-half of the board is the PMLK LM3475 buck regulator, the bottom half is the PMLK TPS54160 buck regulator. A workbook that goes with the board covers experiments that, for instance, investigate how the efficiency of a buck regulator depends on the line and load conditions and on the switching frequency, the influence of switching frequency and capacitance and ESR of the input and output capacitors on buck regulator waveforms, and other topics.
