Solar battery charger: buck VS boost – I want to redesign my solar off-grid network by reconfiguring the PV panels (series/parallel) and by building a high-efficiency battery charge controller. Help to make a main adapter for Canon Powershot SX150 IS – I have a Canon Powershot SX150IS Digital Camera which would run on two AA battery. I am an academician in Faculty of Agriculture. I want to observe to cotton leaf movement through different light directions. But my batteries are able to record video maximum an hour. I need 4-5 hours at least. So I am trying to make a main adapter. I tried wiring 2 AA batteries to battery-like structure, but I couldn’t open it. I have the checked negative and positive terminals. High power AC DC power supply – Someone was asking me if they can hook up their car sound system to the power grid (110-220v). I was saying he would have to get a power supply but then he said he has 1 6000w amplifier and a 1500w and a 1000w amplifier to power. Voltage drop in SMPS output (ACT4060) – I designed a device which is supplied by 5V provided by ACT4060 (SMPS regulator). The regulator produces stable 5V but only when there is no load connected. When I try to connect 5Ω resistor to the output, the voltage drops below 2V. I use 22μH inductor and 22uF ceramic resistor. When I tried to replace inductor to 10uH It was a little bit better but the problem still existed. Read more

Active PFC with output current control – I want to use a PFC chip (FAN4800) to build a battery charger. Unlike the typical application, I’m using a low voltage input (30VAC) and I want to control (set/limit) the output current. It might be enough to use a CT sensor on the output and feed its output to the PFC chip voltage feedback pin? Also, could it be better to put another inductor in series with the load to get a smoother current and to avoid a large output capacitor bank? Read more
