130-W ac-dc supplies billed as world’s smallest

November 24, 2015 By WTWH Editor Leave a Comment

xppowerpr-151124XP Power has announced the high efficiency ECP130 series of miniature open-frame AC-DC power supplies, with safety approvals for the ITE and medical equipment markets.

The units deliver the full 130 W output with only 10 CFM of forced air cooling and are also able to provide a high convection cooled rating of 100 W, eliminating the need for cooling fans. Seven single-output models have been announced, delivering either 12,15, 18, 24, 28 36 or 48 VDC, each of which accepts an input voltage of between 85 and 264 VAC and has dual input fuse protection on line and neutral.

The series has an ultra-compact footprint measuring only 2 x 3” and a very low profile of only 28.0 mm. Taking up 25% less board space than the current 2×4” industry standard, the range delivers a high power density of up to 19.7 W/in2 with typical efficiency figures of 95%, and a no-load consumption of less than 0.5 W.

The ECP130 uses the latest design technology to provide an ultra-compact and low-profile power supply that is both highly efficient and ideally suited to almost any application and is among the industry’s first AC-DC supplies to deliver these efficiencies in this size package and enable its use in both medical / ITE applications, as well as more general industrial systems too.

The modules have been certified to meet ITE 60950-1 and 3rd edition medical approvals including IEC60601-1 and ANSI/AMMI ES60601-1.  They have low-leakage current and provide two means of patient protection (MOPP) isolation between input and output and one means of operator protection (MOOP) between output and ground.

All units in the ECP130 series of AC-DC supplies have a wide operating temperature range, from -40 to +70oC, with no derating until 50oC and meet Class B conducted and Class A radiated limits of EN55011 and EN55022, removing the need for additional external EMI filtering.

The ECP130 series is priced at $67.86 for 500 pcs orders and is available from Newark, Digi-Key, or direct from XP Power and come with a 3 year warranty.
