We recently spoke with Jessica Engel from Harwin talked to us a bit about some new developments in power connector technology. One such development was the Datamate Mix-Tek series of power connectors. She says they’re lightweight, compact, offer or 20 and 40-A options, and provide a lot of design flexibility. You have the option to have signal and power in the same connector housing, so the connectors really address that need in high-reliability applications. They withstand extreme shock and extreme vibration to the tune of 100 G for six hours. They also handle high temperatures. For any type of extreme environment, these connectors good candidates.
Jessica also spoke to us about a few other developments. One was the M300, which is a 3-mm-pitch connector. This connector operates up to 175°C. There are shielding options as well for RF purposes.
Engel says any type of high-reliability applications are great for Harwin products. Harwin a vertically integrated company, meaning from design and engineering all the way through assembly, they take care of everything in house. That sort of vertical integration also brings great traceability, Engel says. Applications for Harwin products are typically in aerospace, aviation, defense, military, and in robotics, currently a big focus for the company.
