105-kVA regenerative grid simulator delivers 500VL-N at 1 kHz

July 1, 2019 By Lee Teschler

A new 105 kVA model has been added to the 61800 series of Regenerative Grid Simulators currently offered in 30 kVA, 45 kVA and 60 kVA models. The 61800-100 105 kVA model answers the call for higher ac regenerative power. The 61800 Grid Simulator’s extensive feature set boasts state-of-the-art digital control technology. Standard models can deliver up to 330VL-N at output frequencies ranging from 30 to 100 Hz. Planned options to include: 1kHz output frequency option, regenerative ac load option, 500VL-N high voltage option, 210 kVA/1000VL-N XHV option (Both high voltage options can be achieved without the need for an external transformer.)

The 61800-100 supports a parallel output function which allows connection of up to six units chroma 61800resulting in total output power of 630 kVA. Power greater than 630 kVA can be achieved through customization. Operation is performed either through the front panel or remotely with available software (Chroma softpanels).

The 61800-100 is a full four-quadrant, fully regenerative, ac power source with advanced features satisfying rigorous regulatory standards testing as well as design and verification testing throughout the product development cycle. The 61800’s power can both sink and source from the UUT seamlessly to support countless applications. In cases where the UUT sources current, a detection circuit will sense the excess power and recycle it back to the grid. Able to simulate power line distortion, the 61800 is a candidate for testing PV inverters, on-line UPSs, Smart Grids, Vehicle to Grid (V2G) and Energy Storage System (ESS) applications as well as for common electrical product testing such as home appliances and industrial electronics requiring a programmable input source.
