DIN rail power supplies suitable for use in hazardous locations

January 20, 2016 By Andrew Zistler Leave a Comment

tdkTDK Corporation announces the introduction of TDK-Lambda’s DRF/HL DIN rail mount power supplies certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and marine applications. The products have been tested to ISA 12.12.01, IEC/EN 60079-0:2011, IEC/EN 60079-15:2010 and Guidelines for the Performance of Type Approvals – Test Requirements for Electrical / Electronic Equipment and Systems (VI-7-2). The models are marked with the following nomenclature accordingly: Class I Division 2, Group A, B, C and D, IECEx, ATEX and DNV-GL.

Carrying a 5-year warranty, the TDK-Lambda 24V output DRF/HL series is available in three power levels, 120W, 240W and 480W, and can deliver a peak power of 150% for 4 seconds. The overload characteristic is constant current style; ideal for driving motors and other non-linear loads. The supplies operate from a universal input of 85~264Vac (300Vac for 5 seconds) and are compliant to EN61000-3-2. Efficiency levels are as high as 94% and standby power consumption is between

Housed in a metal enclosure, the DRF models offer slim case designs, ranging from 36.5mm to 82mm in width, saving vital space on the DIN rail. All models share a common 123.4mm height and 115.4mm depth. In addition, they have been rigorously tested for shock and vibration while mounted onto the rail.

The DRF series can operate at full load over a wide temperature range of -25 to +60°C (derating linearly to 75% load at +70°C). Standard features include conformally coated printed circuit boards, remote on/off, parallel capability, remote voltage adjust and a DC good relay output.

Additional safety certifications include UL508 and IEC/UL/EN 60950-1 (2nd Ed.) and are CE marked in accordance with the LV Directive, EMC Directive and RoHS2 Directive. The DIN rail power supplies meet EN55022 and CISPR22 Class B for conducted and radiated EMI.
