Expanded converter line delivers up to 80 A output current

November 17, 2025 By Redding Traiger Leave a Comment

TDK Corporation has expanded its TDK-Lambda i7A series of non-isolated DC-DC buck converters with new models rated up to 1000 W output power. The additions support output currents of 60 A and 80 A and maintain the existing 1/16-brick footprint. Each converter includes redundant input and output power pins to accommodate higher current delivery and scalable power configurations from 400 W to 1000 W.

The converters have an input voltage range of 18 V to 60 V and provide adjustable output voltages from 3.3 V to 28 V. An adjustable output current limit reduces stress during overload or startup conditions and allows for parallel operation in redundant or high-power systems. Despite their increased power capacity, each unit weighs approximately 85 grams, aided by an optimized baseplate design suited for applications where weight and space are limited.

With efficiencies up to 99 %, the converters improve thermal management and overall system performance. The series supports open-frame, baseplate, and heatsink cooling configurations, offering flexibility for conduction-cooled, forced-air, or natural-convection environments. All models meet IEC/UL/CSA/EN 62368-1 safety standards and carry CE and UKCA compliance marks under the Electrical Safety and RoHS Directives.

The expanded i7A series is designed for use in medical, communications, industrial, robotics, test and measurement, drones, and battery-powered equipment applications requiring compact, high-density DC-DC conversion.
