FANUC Rechargeable Battery Unit Kit Provides Reliable Long-Term Backup Power

August 20, 2013 By scombest Leave a Comment

FANUC CNC now offers a Rechargeable Battery Unit Kit that provides reliable long-term backup power for CNC machines and eliminates the use of disposable batteries; providing a more environmentally-friendly solution.  As a result, there is no machine downtime due to dead batteries and no scrap parts due to loss of machine position.  The Rechargeable Battery Unit Kit removes the cost, hassle and inconvenient timing of replacing disposable batteries.

FANUC’s Rechargeable Battery Unit enables one CNC system to be connected from a power source to the servo amplifiers, and it contains a rechargeable battery and charging circuit that supplies backup power to absolute pulsecoders and separate type detector units; thus eliminating the use of disposable batteries which is better for the environment.

The charging circuit monitors the voltage of the rechargeable battery, and it charges the battery when the voltage becomes low. Because the charging circuit works only when it is necessary, the rechargeable battery can be used for a long period of time.  The average life span of the unit is more than 10 years, however working conditions or operating environment will affect life expectancy.

The kit includes all the necessary cables for one CNC system to be connected from a power source to the servo amplifiers and a connection manual. This kit is designed to be installed with Alpha, Alpha i or Beta i Servo Amplifiers and separate type detectors.

For aftermarket installation, customers can tap into the expertise of the FANUC Aftermarket Support Team that can do an audit of existing equipment to make configuration and installation recommendations for each specific application.
