The recently concluded Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition in Charlotte, N.C. showcased a variety of new developments in wide bandgap semiconductors, LEDs, power converter topologies, and much more. Here are a few of the more noteworthy scenes we noted on the exhibition floor.
In the news: Wireless charging
There were a number of papers presented at APEC on wireless charging, both the inductive style and through use of resonance frequencies. Exhibition displays on the subject included this prototype created by researchers at the Oak Ridge National Lab. It measures about two-feet square and is said to transfer about 2.2 kW through inductive coupling.
