Hub motors get a ring capacitor
This, believe it or not, is a capacitor. Called a RingCap, it is designed to be integrated into a clutch bell housing or into wheel hub motors. Developed by TDK’s EPCOS operation, RingCaps are made in different dimensions with an outer diameter up to 315 mm and a width of no more than 50 mm. Voltage ratings are between 100 and 900 V DC with capacitance values between 100 and 2,000 µF. The standard version has a dielectric made of polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Equivalent series inductance (ESL) values range from less than 10 nH up to 30 nH.
