Green 250W Power Supplies Introduced by TDK-Lambda

July 12, 2011 By admin Leave a Comment

TDK-Lambda Americas has introduced a new line of “green” 250-watt power supplies that comply with the European energy saving requirements of the ErP (Energy related Products) Directive. Ideal for use in industrial, broadcast, and communications applications, the GWS250 series AC-DC power supplies employ innovative design techniques to combine high efficiency, high power density and low standby power consumption (<0.5W, no-load) with the confidence of a 5-year warranty. The GWS250 is equally well-suited for indoor as well as outdoor applications, including: LED information displays, digital signage, traffic controls, test and measurement and audio/visual systems.

Designed with a 4.1 x 7.8 inch footprint and less than 1U height (1.61”), the GWS250 is a compact, convection-cooled power supply that fits into spaces previously requiring fan-cooled supplies. Rated at 250W, this series is offered in four models with nominal outputs of 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V. Outputs are user adjustable by up to 20% depending on the model – and the 24V and 36V models have a peak power rating of 300W. With a very flat efficiency curve averaging 92.7% from 25 to 100% load, the GWS250 series can be operated at full load from -25 to +50°C ambient temperature and up to +70°C with suitable derating. Since the GWS250 is convection-cooled and does not have a fan, it is ideal for applications requiring low audible noise as well as for equipment where long life is a critical factor, such as in remote locations and dusty environments.

The GWS250 series includes overvoltage, overtemperature and overcurrent protections. Models also feature <0.5W no-load power consumption, 5V/0.3A standby output, remote on/off, DC GOOD signal and a programmable output function, as standard.

CE marked in accordance with the LV Directive, the GWS250 carries a host of environmental and safety approvals including EN55022 and FCC Class B, UL60950-1, CSA C22.2 No.60950-1-07 (cUL), EN60950-1 edition 2 and IEC60950-1.

These units are available now and economically priced, starting at $140.00 each in 250 piece quantities. More information is available at TDK-Lambda Americas’ website: http://www.us.tdk-lambda.com/lp/products/gws-series.htm or by calling 1-800-LAMBDA-4.
