ADI Power Studio is a software product family for power system design that covers planning, design, simulation, configuration, and measurement phases. The toolset combines Linear Technology and Maxim component libraries in a single catalog and includes both web-based and desktop applications.
The workflow begins with planning tools. ADI Power Studio Planner is a web-based application for system-level power tree architecture that performs power-loss calculations and efficiency analysis. It includes parametric search functionality for component selection and trade-off analysis. LTpowerPlanner provides desktop-based power tree visualization and system efficiency estimation for early-stage architecture work.
For circuit-level design, ADI Power Studio Designer operates through a web browser and generates component recommendations, performance estimates, and efficiency data for IC-level power supply circuits. Device support in Designer spans products regardless of their original manufacturer. LTpowerCAD runs on desktop systems and performs regulator design calculations including loop analysis, efficiency estimates, and thermal performance modeling. EE-Sim operates in a browser environment and includes model libraries for circuit generation and analysis.
Simulation validation uses two engines: LTspice for Linear Technology-originated devices and SIMPLIS for Maxim-originated devices. Both engines run model-based simulations within the Power Studio environment before hardware prototyping.
LTpowerPlay configures and monitors digital power system management ICs through a PC interface. The software provides telemetry data, fault logging, and scripting functions for laboratory and production use. LTpowerAnalyzer measures power supply characteristics including Bode plots, transient response, and output impedance when paired with the EVAL-LTPA-KIT hardware platform.
