Ka-band switch amplifier achieves 5 ns switching for satcom

The CI-ONE integrated PA + SPDT modules from Circuits Integrated Hellas (CIH) are small-form-factor Ka-band RF front-end devices that combine a power amplifier and SPDT switch in a single surface-mount module for satellite communication systems. Fabricated using a GaAs pHEMT process and operating from a 6 V supply, the modules support output power classes of 30 dBm, 34 dBm and 36 dBm with switching speeds of 5 ns and about 22% efficiency at the 1 dB compression point. Designed for Ka-band Satcom architectures used in 5G/6G infrastructure, radar and aerospace platforms, the integrated approach reduces component count, PCB area and routing complexity while supporting scalable power levels for VSAT terminals, in-flight connectivity systems and defense communication equipment.
