Metal foil resistors combine high precision with robust thermal performance

December 3, 2025 By Redding Traiger Leave a Comment

Bourns, Inc. released four new Riedon Foil Resistor Series by Bourns. The FPM Series, FPV Series, FWP2324 Series, and FPY Series are designed for high-precision, high-power applications by delivering exceptional accuracy and long-term measurement repeatability. These capabilities enable designers to meet stability, performance, high power, and reliability requirements while also helping to reduce calibration frequency even in certain harsh environments.

The four new foil resistor series can achieve up to 1 ppm/°C and ±0.005 percent TCR and minimal long-term drift. These resistors are constructed with a metal foil resistive element mounted on a ceramic substrate that provides superior heat conductivity. In addition, the metal foil resistive element also offers high precision, low inductance, low noise, and enhanced long-term reliability.

The features offered in the Riedon FPM, FPV, FWP2324, and FPY Series Foil Resistors by Bourns make them ideal, long-life measurement solutions for a wide variety of current sense, industrial, consumer, and telecommunications applications. In addition, their high precision and robust thermal performance make these foil resistors especially well-suited for test and measurement equipment, renewable energy and power conversion systems, and industrial automation platforms, where consistent accuracy, stable performance over varying conditions, and long-term reliability are essential.

Enabling designers to match individual application requirements, the new resistor families are available in the following package types: The FWP2324 Series in a 4-pin, rectangular package; The FPY Series is in a 2-pin, rectangular package; The FPM and FPV Series are in a 4-pin package with an isolated backplate.

The Riedon FPM, FPV, FWP2324, and FPY Series Foil Resistors by Bourns are available now and are RoHS* compliant.
