New connectPower PRO DC/DC converter

May 3, 2016 By Andrew Zistler Leave a Comment

avdWeidmuller introduces the connectPower PRO DC/DC Converter product line to complement their PROeco and PROmax power supplies. Designed specifically for the Process, Transportation and Machinery industries, these new converters now carry Class I Div 2 and ATEX certification as well as Class III protection. This electrically isolated DC/DC converter line avoids critical earth loops; from an unregulated or distorted input voltage, it generates a stable, low-distortion output voltage. The connectPower compact converters are ideal for use in earth-free power systems, such as the battery backup systems in hazardous location applications.
Weidmuller PRO DC/DC converters offer a versatile solution for all 24 VDC power supply applications. They feature industry leading power specifications, excellent resistance to shock and vibration, a status signal for remote monitoring and operating efficiency of 94%.

At a space-saving width of only 43mm for the 10A module, PRO DC/DC converters can be mounted side-by-side without clearance requirements. This offers up to a 30% reduction in needed cabinet space. A metal clip-on foot provides increased stability on the DIN-rail and resistance to high vibration and shock.

These converters offer integrated features to streamline trouble-shooting and optimize machine uptime. An alarm output monitors the status of the 24V output voltage and an LED indicates “DC OK” status for the output voltage. The transistor outputs and the on/off status relay facilitate remote monitoring.

Weidmuller’s DC/DC Converter has broad protection thanks to an internal fuse on the input side and output side, with short-circuit and overload protection as well as a power boost of more than 600% I* IN for 16ms.

As with all Weidmuller power supplies, the PRO DC/DC Converter line is designed for operation in extreme environments. They have an operating temperature range of -25°C to +70°C and a start-up of -40°C. In addition to Class I Div 2, ATEX certification and Class III protection, they also have CE, TUV, GL, cULus, cURus and DNV approvals.
