Battery packs go together like Legos
Batteries from Tyva Energy in France fit together a little like Lego blocks so packs comprised of the cells can have a vertical or horizontal format. Inside each module are Li-ion cylindrical cells. Each module, like the one held here by Tyva CEO Thierry Claudel, incorporates features that include air flow tubes, inserts for electrical connections, measuring areas for temperature sensors, cable glands for an external battery management system, and connections for a local monitoring unit. Horizontal busbars and vertical clips visible here (red arrows) make electrical connections when the modules are configured for horizontal or vertical stacks. The modules also accommodate different battery management system topologies such as star, daisy chain, and wireless techniques.
