An electric Lotus that does 130 mph

lotus hybridWho says you need a Tesla to have a high-performance electric sportscar? This copper-colored beauty is the Lotus Evora 414E. It is a plug-in, range-extended EV that can hit 130 mph. Its electric motor generates 408 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque which lets the car go from 0 to 60 mph in four seconds. Lithium Polymer batteries provide 14.4 kWh of energy storage capacity. When running off batteries, the car has an advertised range of 30 miles, though it is doubtful that figure includes much time at 130 mph. With the help of the range-extending internal combustion engine, the full range is 300 miles. The car also sports an intelligent pedestrian warning system developed with Harmon that makes use of inputs from imaging sensors to warn the driver of possible trouble. And the car even has a simulated paddle-shift gear change that gives ultra-quick gear changes reminiscent of a dual-clutch transmission.
