Power capacitors handle up to 60 A, 600 Vrms

July 11, 2017 By Aimee Kalnoskas Leave a Comment

TDK Corporation has significantly extended its range of EPCOS single-phase power capacitors for industrial electronics. The capacitors of series B32370 through B32374 are designed for rated AC voltages of between 250 VRMS and 600 VRMS, cover a capacitance range from 5 µF to 600 µF, and feature a maximum current capability of between 15 A and 60 A, depending on the type. The can diameter ranges from 40 mm to 136 mm, with heights from 64 mm to 265 mm. One particular feature is the high reliability and long service life of 100,000 hours. The synthetic resin-filled and PCB-free capacitors are designed for a continuous operating temperature of 70 °C. They comply with IEC 61071-1 and have UL approval.

Three types of terminations are available: M6 to M10 screw terminals, as well as plug-in or clamp terminals. For secure fixation and simultaneous grounding, the new EPCOS capacitors have threaded studs on the base of the can. The capacitors are self-healing and have an internal overpressure disconnector.

Typical applications of these power capacitors are filters in UPS systems as well as output filter circuits in frequency converters and inverters for photovoltaic installations and wind power plants.

Main applications

  • Filter circuits in UPS systems
  • Frequency converters
  • Inverters for photovoltaic installations and wind power plants

Main features and benefits

  • Long service life of 100,000 hours (IEC 61071-1)
  • Wide range of capacitances and voltages
  • High pulse strength of up to 60 A
