Chassis-mount DC-DC converters for railway applications get pluggable connectors

October 4, 2018 By Aimee Kalnoskas Leave a Comment

Bel Power Solutions announces an extension to the RCM Series, 150 W to 1000 W chassis-mount DC-DC converters, with an optional pluggable connector version. The pluggable connectors are an alternative to the standard cage clamp terminals, that lowers the risk of reverse polarity connection and supports the integration of ready-made cable harnesses during installation, as well as for maintenance purposes. The pluggable connectors are from well accepted connector manufacturers in the railway industry and provide additional retention facility for shock and vibration-proof operation in various rolling stock applications, such as cab radios, HVAC systems, train control, passenger information systems, toilet systems, illumination and many others.

RCM Series are fully compliant to international railway standards EN 50155, EN 50121-3-2, EN 45545-2 and North American AREMA requirements. In addition, the RCM Series is safety approved to the latest edition of IEC/EN/UL 60950-1. Nominal on board battery voltages from 24 V to 110 V are covered by two input ranges and converted into a fully regulated and isolated single output voltage of 12 V or 24 V. The converters can operate in a convection cooled environment at temperatures from -40° up to 85°C. All PCBs are conformal coated and protected against humidity and pollution, which occurs during typical lifecycles of +20 years of rolling stock equipment.
