SUPER CAPACITORS REACH 3,500 FARADS FOR
POWER, ENERGY STORAGE AND AUDIO APPLICATIONS

August 14, 2012 By Natasha Townsend Leave a Comment

The DCN series of super capacitors from Illinois Capacitor offers capacitance values up to 3,500 F (Farad), while maintaining small case sizes.  Custom modules are also available to combine multiple capacitors for combinations of higher voltage ratings or capacitance.

This expanded series includes more values, now ranging in capacitance from 1 F to 3,500 F, with voltage ratings from 2.7 to 5.5 V dc.  Operating temperature ranges from -40 to +60° C for extended life performance in countless applications.

At 2.7 V, DCN load life is rated at 86,700 hours.  Operating life is rated at 10 years with 500,000 cycles.  Applications for these super capacitors include: energy harvesting, battery pack alternatives, memory backup, battery/capacitor hybrids, UPS systems, emergency lighting, solar lighting, auto sound power boost and more.

These capacitors are packaged with various termination styles and case diameters, depending on values.  The parts are also fully RoHS compliant.  Like other IC capacitors, each capacitor is 100% burn-in tested.
