Tecate’s Supercapacitors Now UL 810A Recognized

March 6, 2012 By admin Leave a Comment

Tecate Group, a leading global supplier of capacitors and supercapacitors, announced that their extensive inventory of RoHS-compliant CAP-XX supercapacitors is now UL 810A recognized under the Components Recognition Program of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc®.  The UL 810A standard covers supercapacitors (electromechanical double-layer capacitors, or EDLCs) and is intended to further ensure the safety of electronic products and systems.  Tecate distributes eight series of CAP-XX general purpose and high temperature supercapacitor modules and two series of supercapacitor cells on their online store.  Online orders are accepted for prototype and full production quantities to further help OEMs/ODMs cost effectively reduce time-to-market.

Designed to address both the power delivery constraints of battery systems and the energy delivery limitations of conventional capacitors, the low profile, low ESR, high-capacitance supercapacitor cells feature a 2.75V operating voltage, while modules comprised of the cells are supplied with either 4.5V or 5.5V operating voltage.  Parts boast a wide operating and storage temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C.

CAP-XX’s thin, prismatic cells and modules are widely specified to provide burst and back-up power in space-constrained portable and wireless electronic products.  They are most commonly employed in tablet and handheld PCs, mobile phones, bar-code scanners, credit card terminals, digital cameras, solid state disks (SSDs), location-tracking devices, smart meters, battery-free condition monitoring systems, and small uninterruptible power supplies.
