Thin film resistors maintain performance with minimal trimming

Design engineers often face challenges sourcing low resistance chip resistors with robust pulse handling capabilities, especially when cost is a concern. While all-metal element resistors are renowned for their superior pulse performance, they can be prohibitively expensive for many applications.
Stackpole Electronics’ RNCL series uses proprietary thin film technology to provide reliable pulse withstanding performance for resistance values of 50 milliohm and above. While metal element designs require extensive trimming at higher resistance values — which can reduce their pulse handling — the RNCL resistors maintain solid pulse performance with minimal trimming. Combined with pricing at less than half the cost of many all-metal alternatives, the RNCL series offers engineers a dependable and cost-effective solution for pulse applications.
In fact, RNCL resistors are typically priced at less than 40% of comparable all-metal alternatives, offering substantial savings without sacrificing quality. The RNCL series is AEC compliant, features TCR as low as 50 ppm, tolerances down to 0.5%, and low typical inductance (less than 5nH).
Pricing varies by size, tolerance, and resistance value, and volume discounts are available.
