Renesas Electronics Corporation has developed a power management solution for laptops based on the Intel® Core™ Ultra 200V series processors, focusing on battery efficiency for AI applications.
The power management system consists of three components: the RAA225019 PMIC, RAA489301 pre-regulator, and ISL9241 battery charger. The RAA225019 PMIC incorporates integrated power MOSFETs and current sensing circuitry, configured for Lunar Lake applications and high-frequency switching in compact designs.
The RAA489301 pre-regulator operates as a 3-level buck converter, providing voltage regulation for the RAA225019 PMIC. Its architecture supports wide input and output voltage ranges for compact, high-power-density applications. Compared to 2-level buck designs, the system maintains efficiency while reducing thermal output.
The combined solution addresses power requirements for AI-focused laptop applications, which typically require increased power consumption. The system includes tested reference designs and application support documentation.
Renesas currently offers the RAA225019 PMIC, RAA489301 pre-regulator, and ISL9241 battery charger.
