Digitally controlled PoL operates in 4.5V to 14Vdc range in FPGA and processor applications

December 1, 2016 By Aimee Kalnoskas Leave a Comment

murataMurata introduces the OKDL-T/60-W12, a 60 Amp, 94.9% efficient addition to the Murata Power Solutions OKD family of digitally controlled point of load (PoL) DC-DC converters. The OKDL-T/60-W12 power module is ideally suited for FPGA and processor applications. The module is specified to operate over a Vin range of 4.5V to 14Vdc, and provides a user adjustable output in the range of 0.6V to 1.8VDC with an industry leading efficiency of 94.9%. The SMT/LGA module measures just 25.1 x 14.1 x 7.0mm, providing industry leading-power density for the most demanding applications.

This highly efficient, PMBus™ compliant PoL module is delivered with a default firmware configuration suitable for a wide range of applications and is fully configurable to meet specific application requirements. The PMBus™ protocol provides full configuration and monitoring of the converter via a set of industry standard digital commands. The OKDL-T/60-W12 provides advanced power conversion management features such as Dynamic Loop Compensation (DLC). With DLC enabled the module will load the ideal loop compensation coefficients by detecting output parameters. See the data sheet for additional details. With all of the advanced features, high efficiency, and small SMT footprint, the OKDL-T/60-W12 is an ideal solution for critical applications in networking, computing, and telecom systems. Other features include Current Sharing, Voltage Tracking, remote On/Off control, synchronization, and phase spreading control that reduces input capacitance requirements and reduces efficiency losses in the application.

The OKDL-T/60-W12 is certified by AMP (Architects of Modern Power) to be gigaAMP™ compliant and multi-sourced with true plug-and-play compatibility. The module protection features include output short circuit, over power, over voltage, over temperature, and input under voltage. The modules are certified to UL/IEC 60950-1 and sample quantities are available from stock with production lead times of eight weeks with a forecast.
