New series of 600V HyperFast Rectifiers are ideal for PFC applications

March 18, 2014 By Megan Hollis Leave a Comment

Central Semiconductor Corp. introduces several new 600V HyperFast Rectifiers designed specifically for extremely fast switching applications, such as Power Factor Correction (PFC), where total conduction losses must be minimized and at the same time, power density must be maximized. The series consists of CMR5H-06 (5A in the SMC package), CHD8-06 (8A in the DPAK package) and CTLHR10-06 (10A in the TLM364 package). All three devices offer industry leading switching performance (22nS), which is a 37% improvement compared with competitive UltraFast rectifiers. These new devices make use of industry standard packages and mounting pad layouts for ease of manufacturing and adaptability to existing designs.

For PFC designs, rectifiers with extremely fast reverse recovery characteristics and high reverse voltage capability are critical elements of a highly efficient system. In addition to superior switching speed performance, key benefits of these devices include high power density, low switching losses and energy efficiency. These rectifiers offer a wide temperature range of -65oC to +175o making them suitable for other applications including motor control, DC-DC output rectification and alternative energy inverters.

Pricing for the CMR5H-06 starts at US$0.30 each for 3,000 pieces on tape and reel. The CHD8-06 starts at US$0.30 each for 2,500 pieces on tape and reel and the CTLHR10-06 starts at US$0.68 each for 5,000 pieces on tape and reel. Sample devices are available upon request.
