Photo control assemblies rugged enough for street lights

TE Connectivity is unveiling several innovations to its LUMAWISE photo control portfolio providing street lighting manufacturers additional design flexibility. TE’s LUMAWISE base assembly, sleeve and covers together integrate power and signal interface to the dimming receptacle to ensure long-term reliability. This interface can be used in applications such as LED outdoor roadway, street and area lighting fixtures.

TE’s LUMAWISE base assemblies are now available in 81mm diameter size in addition to the existing ANSI 136.41 compliant 76mm diameter base. The LUMAWISE base assembly includes power twist lock terminals, spring leaf signal terminals and a separately packaged foam gasket.

To protect the electronics and photo cell inside the control system from dust and heavy jet spray, TE now offers two solutions that will provide an IP66 sealed system: the LUMAWISE colored sleeves with side or top-side aperture opening and the 5VA flammability rated LUMAWISE covers. Both these systems are available for the 76mm and the 81mm base assembly. This will give manufacturers flexibility in design and help ensure a system that will withstand the harsh conditions of outdoor lighting applications.

LUMAWISE covers are available in several heights and three colors (smoke grey, translucent smoke and clear) enabling designers to choose the right fit for their application. The integral light directional LUMAWISE colored sleeves with side or top-side aperture opening are also available in various heights and colors (jet black and white aluminum) that designate voltage rating or support customers’ specific color requests.
