Converter bricks put out 5/12/15/24/48-V from ultra-wide input range

July 13, 2020 By Lee Teschler Leave a Comment

New 40-W TEP 40UIR and 60-W TEP 60UIR families of high-performance dc/dc converters offer an ultra-wide 12:1 input range in the industry standard quarter brick package. These robust dc/dc converters were designed for railway, transportation and industrial markets providing a diverse set of features for challenging applications.

The TEP 40UIR (40 W) and TEP 60UIR (60 W) families each consist 10 models offering a choice of two ultra-wide input ranges of traco9~75 or 14~160 Vin and single outputs of 5/12/15/24/48 Vout, trimmable -20/+10%. The ultra-wide 12:1 input range allow these converters to be an all-in-one solution for applications requiring operation over multiple input ranges.

An internal circuit extends hold-up time, eliminating the need for expensive high voltage capacitors at the input. A single 25-V capacitor covers the entire input range, effectively reducing cost, size and inrush current. These converters are offered in the standard quarter brick (2.3×1.45×0.5 in) metal package. Standard features include: a high efficiency up to 91%; operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C; I/O-isolation voltage of 3,000 Vac; adjustable under voltage lockout function; remote on/off; and adjustable outputs. All models are approved to IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 and certified for railway applications according to EN 50155, EN 61373, EN 45545-2 and supported by a 3 year product warranty.

Products are in stock and available through distributors around the globe with manufacturing lead times of 12-14 weeks. See tracopower.com/series/tep-uir for specifications.
