Just the thing for power over Ethernet
This is an evaluation board for a converter reference design as used for Class 1 power-over-Ethernet applications that need isolation. The main chip is a TPS23753A combined PoE powered device (PD) interface and current-mode DC-DC controller optimized specifically for isolated converter designs. The PoE implementation supports the IEEE 802.3at standard as a 13-W, type 1 PD. The synchronous rectifier driven from the main transformer is said to provide good efficiency and low cost. This converter is also said to be particularly well suited for low-cost IP Phone applications.
