Sizing up motor drives

One trend in high-performance instrumentation is the increasing use of specialized software packages that handle measurements and analysis in particular application areas. Teledyne Lecroy has such a package for analyzing motor drives. It runs on the company’s HDO8000 high-def scopes and handles such tasks as efficiency analysis, dynamic drive response analysis, three-phase power measurements, and other factors that are handy for debugging motor drives. The demo at APEC used a small brushless motor as a test case.
