The Open Facebook connector

The quest for energy efficiency took many forms at APEC. Even connectors are being redesigned for better energy transfer. An example of the trend was at the Methode Electronics booth where you could see a connector designed to the Phase 2 Open Facebook standard. This is an open standard for data servers conceived to reduce energy use and hardware costs. The standard uses one copper bus bar instead of two. Thus it reduces the cost of the busbar by putting prongs on the connector instead of the server chassis.
